Drew Barrymore

Everyone’s favourite girls’ girl, Drew Barrymore is thankful for every experience

“When my [first] daughter was born, I thought to myself: How do I go past infinity with my efforts and care?”

Drew Barrymore The consummate girls’ girl, Drew Barrymore is the stuff girl crushes are made of. That she’s also a Hollywood star, wife, mother, film producer, director, bestselling author, beauty entrepreneur and philanthropist is icing on the already adorable cake.

Born into a legendary acting lineage, she was appearing in commercials at 11-months old and was just six during her big-screen breakout in E.T.  the Extra-Terrestrial. Her formative years were fraught with much-publicized difficulties and it wasn’t until the mid-1990s that, after legally emancipating herself from her parents, Drew re-emerged with roles in Poison Ivy, Boys on the Side, Scream, The Wedding Singer, Ever After and Never Been Kissed. Her star continued to rise in the years following with roles in 50 First Dates, He’s Just Not That Into You, and her portrayal of Edith Bouvier Beale in the much-lauded Grey Gardens. Drew has also produced, directed and has recently launched the beauty brand Flower, available exclusively in Walmart.

Drew BarrymoreNot surprisingly, it’s her family life (she has two daughters with husband Will Kopelman) that’s imbued the most joy and purpose. Not shy about sharing the details and challenges of her own childhood, she says she’s able to look at the past and be thankful for every experience, as they’ve pushed her to take a conservative parenting stance she may not have taken otherwise. “When my [first] daughter was born, I thought to myself: How do I go past infinity with my efforts and care? I asked my mother-in-law questions. I psycho-stalked all of the nurses with so many questions. I asked every single question.” She laughs. “I’m a real stay-at-home mom. I’m really hands on. Everything else became secondary.”

Style notes: Pulling off a Drew original is easier than you might think. She’s as at ease in classic, elegant pieces as she is in jeans and T-shirts, and uses all manner of accessories (hats, belts, sunglasses, earrings and necklaces included) to make ensembles pop. During her first pregnancy, she found comfort and style in our Elegant Embrace and Sublime Nursing Bra in French Vanilla.
