Senior Director, Design

Role Objective & Responsibilities:

As a Bravado Leadership team member reporting to the Managing Director, the Senior Director is accountable for effectively leading the design team, consistent with Bravado’s culture and values, to ensure Bravado Designs markets the very best and innovative nursing and maternity products in the world.  The Senior Director will be responsible for setting the global product assortment vision, strategic plan and execution roadmap, and working collaboratively to ensure alignment with the Leadership team to meet sales and margin targets within agreed upon timelines.

The Senior Director will lead the design team to be innovative and collaborative throughout the entire assortment planning and development process.  It is expected the Senior Director and the entire design team will work closely and collaboratively on a cross-functional basis specifically with the Operations, Marketing and Sales teams and with our vendor partners to ensure flawless execution throughout the product development process for successful product launches. 



Department Leadership and Management

  • Lead design, sourcing and technical design team members and develop skills as required
  • Ensure team is working collaboratively to be creative and innovative in developing products to meet requirements
  • Understands sales and market trends, customer attitudes and behaviour, and the effectiveness of working with other departments and vendors in the product innovation, development and design process
  • Must be resourceful and creative in researching and gathering information, identifying opportunities for new concepts for new designs/products, and managing projects

Product Assortment and Product Development

  • Lead the development of the product roadmap by season
  • Develop products to meet customer wants and needs in key markets within standards of quality, fit, cost, margin and sales targets


  • According to approved strategy, design amazing products for key global markets
  • Ensure field testing of product is relevant, understood and acted upon as necessary
  • Ensure innovative, collaborative, creative designs are presented for evaluation and decision-making
  • Maintains a high level of goodwill with customers (Moms) participating in the Testwear and Fit Programs


  • Lead global sourcing initiatives for raw materials, trims, innovative products, fabric technology to meet product requirements and quality standards based on strategic plan and design vision
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers and mills to meet objectives, utilize expertise in innovation, and proactively search out opportunities
  • Ensure all documentation and product material samples are current and organized for use by design colleagues

Technical Design

  • Optimize design concepts in the product development process to ensure manufacturability as well as high customer satisfaction with fit and materials
  • Collaboratively work with factory partners to ensure effective communication and working relationships to make product as required
  • Utilize field testing information as required in the product development process


  • Minimum 15 years’ leadership experience in design, product innovation and development in the apparel industry
  • Proven experience leading, motivating and collaborating with teams
  • Must have seamless, knit to shape, and cut and sew design and manufacturing experience
  • Bra design experience is required
  • Post-secondary education in Fashion Design, Business Management or Textile Engineering
  • Must have a thorough understanding of body fashion and how the body moves for product adjustments, pattern-making (drafting), and garment construction skills, experience working with tech packs, prototyping, fit “on body”, sketching, molding, size charts, pattern specification measurements, and Sewing Product Information (SPI)
  • Flexible to travel internationally with a valid passport and driver’s license
  • Must enjoy innovation and ways of addressing and solving challenges with new approaches
  • Must be proficient using ERP and PLM system, and Microsoft Suite specifically, Word, Excel using FGS and POM data, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Bravado Designs is a Fragrance-free office
